Weekly Review — Week of January 13, 2025

Take 20–30 minutes at the end of each week to complete this review.

How was this week? (1–10)

Rating: 7/10

Why: Productive in the mornings, lost focus midweek due to context-switching. Finished the main project milestone, which felt good.

Wins 🎉

What went well? What are you proud of?

  • Finally shipped the feature that's been in progress for three weeks
  • Had a genuinely helpful 1:1 with a teammate — left feeling energized
  • Got back to daily exercise after a two-week break
  • Read 60 pages of Deep Work — reconnected with why focus matters

Challenges & Lessons 📖

What was hard? What did you learn?

  • Overcommitted on Tuesday. Agreed to three things in one day without checking my calendar. Lesson: say "let me check and get back to you."
  • Reactive mornings. Checked messages before doing deep work twice this week. The morning hours are my best — protect them.
  • Underestimated the database migration. What I thought was 2 hours took 6. Add a 3× buffer for anything touching production data.

Next Week's Priorities

What are the 3 most important things to accomplish next week?

# Priority Why it matters
1 Complete onboarding flow draft Blocking Q1 launch
2 1:1 with Alex about career goals Scheduled, important
3 Clear backlog of unanswered emails Over 50 pending

Reflection Questions

What would I do differently this week? Block the first 90 minutes of each day as "focus time" — no Slack, no email.

What am I looking forward to next week? The team offsite on Friday. Good chance to reconnect and plan Q1 together.

What am I grateful for? My manager went to bat for me in the planning meeting. I don't always see the advocacy happening behind the scenes.

Notes & Miscellaneous

  • Read article on async communication — worth sharing with the team
  • Phone interview for side project collaboration — follow up by Jan 20
  • Dentist appointment rescheduled to Feb 3

Next review: January 20, 2025

How to customize

Fill this in at the end of each week — works best as a recurring Friday ritual. Customize the reflection questions to what matters most to you. Consider keeping past reviews in a folder to track patterns over time.
